The President of the Turkish Historical Society, Professor Yusuf Halacoglu, has repeated in Ankara the speech which prompted a Swiss prosecutor to investigate him for denying the Armenian genocide.
At a symposium entitled "The First International Symposium on Armenian Claims and Azerbayjan," Halacoglu repeated his assertion that the Armenians were putting on an act of innocence regarding the events of 1915. Saying that the Armenians cooperated against Turkey with the British, French, and Russian soldiers during World War I, Halacoglu asserted that "according to French documents, in order to help the French reach the Iskendurun ports, the Armenians gave them 15,000 rifles and 2 million bullets. |
